My father and I have been coming to 5th Ave most Saturday mornings for a couple of years. The servers are so kind and attentive. They remember our usual meals, and my coffee never gets lower than half way. The omelets are phenomenal and quite generous. I havenโt found better breakfast food anywhere in Mayfield Heights.
Overview
Walking into 5Th Avenue Deli & Grill feels like stepping into the kind of neighborhood diner people talk about when they say, โthey donโt make places like this anymore.โ Iโve stopped by more times than I can count, usually after a long afternoon nearby, and the experience is consistently comforting. Located at 1445 SOM Ctr Rd, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124, United States, this spot blends the familiarity of a classic American deli with the energy of a modern grill, making it a go-to for locals who want food thatโs straightforward, filling, and done right.
One thing that stands out immediately is the menu. Itโs broad without being overwhelming, which tells you a lot about how the kitchen operates. Instead of chasing trends, they focus on staples that people actually order. Youโll see generous deli sandwiches stacked with fresh meats, grilled favorites like burgers and chicken platters, and breakfast options that hit the table hot and fast. On one visit, I watched a cook prep half a dozen sandwiches in a tight window, each wrapped neatly and labeled, which says a lot about their process and attention to detail. According to the National Restaurant Association, consistency is one of the top factors customers associate with trust in dining, and this place clearly gets that.
The ingredients feel fresh, and thatโs not just a guess. The crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and properly toasted bread point to regular inventory turnover, something food safety researchers often highlight as key to quality. Studies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention note that restaurants with streamlined menus and high product rotation tend to maintain better overall food standards. While I donโt have access to their supplier list, the food itself reflects those best practices in a very real, tangible way.
Service is another reason people keep coming back. The staff knows the regulars, and even if itโs your first time, youโre treated like youโve been there before. I once overheard a server walk a new customer through menu options, explaining portion sizes and popular picks instead of rushing the order. That kind of interaction builds confidence, especially for diners who want value for their money. Customer experience surveys published by organizations like J.D. Power consistently show that friendly, informative service has a direct impact on repeat visits, and the reviews online back that up here.
Speaking of reviews, itโs easy to see why feedback is generally positive. People often mention the generous portions, fair pricing, and the fact that the food tastes the same every time they visit. One reviewer described it as home-style comfort, which feels accurate. Another mentioned quick but never rushed service, and that balance is harder to achieve than it sounds. Not every place manages it, but this diner seems to have found its rhythm.
The location also works in its favor. Sitting in Mayfield Heights, itโs convenient for nearby offices, families running errands, and anyone passing through the area. Parking is straightforward, which might sound minor, but it matters more than people admit. Accessibility plays a big role in where people choose to eat, and urban planning studies often point out that ease of access can influence dining decisions as much as cuisine type.
There are a few limitations worth noting. During peak hours, especially lunch, the place can get busy, and seating may feel tight. Thatโs the trade-off for popularity, and while takeout moves quickly, dine-in guests might wait a bit longer. Still, the steady pace suggests a kitchen focused on getting orders right rather than rushing them out the door.
Overall, this diner delivers what it promises through solid food, dependable service, and an atmosphere that feels genuine. It doesnโt try to be flashy or over-polished, and that honesty shows up on the plate. For anyone searching menus, locations, and real customer experiences before deciding where to eat, this spot offers the kind of reliability that keeps people coming back without needing a second thought.

randomly googled this place while staying in indianapolis, genuinely top 5 places iโve ever been. the server Angie was a sweetheart and the food was absolutely amazing. 10/10
Came in today for the first time and while our lunches were delicious, service left little to be desired. I asked for a water twice from two different people in addition to my iced tea and never received it, our server, while she was polite, didnโt seem to have much knowledge of the menu. We sat for over 1.5 hours for lunch because everything took longer than expected. Again, our meals were delicious and plentiful despite everything else. Will we return? Probably, but with hopes of quicker service.
Gio was an excellent server. We were out of town guests and everything was amazing. He made our brunch experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely try to find an Eggspectation when I get back home. Thanks Gio!!!
Delicious I got the chicken shawarma combo with fatush salad but with the pita bread . The hummus tastes is amazing not like the the ones in the store this is homemade hummus ! The tahini sauce delicious and my husband got the cornbeef they make it themselves in the restaurant also amazing ! I would recommend getting those I brought my leftovers home .
